Vascular biomechanics : mechanics of soft fibre-reinforced tissues and biomimetic design

  • Conception, design and characterization of elastomeric fibrous composite membranes mimicking aortic tissue's histological and mechanical properties (non-linearity, anisotropy) ;
  • Micro-mechanical modelling, numerical simulation of physiological mechanical loadings, and optimization of microstructural properties ;

Respiratory and phonatory biomechanics : biological fluid/structure interactions within the larynx

  • In vivo characterization of laryngeal geometry and oral airflow during human phonation/breathing : airflow measurements, laryngo-stroboscopy, cinematography, EGG ;
  • Aerodynamic interactions between vocal folds and ventricular folds during human phonation ;
  • Impact of glottal motion on aerosol deposition in upper airways during breathing (CFD simulations).
